Students work in cooperative groups to learn the famous myths and the underlying facts about the role of the Alamo in westward expansion. Main activities: read historical and biographical background essays, respond by writing poems and biographies, perform a series of mini-plays reenacting historical events, and play a Q&A "bombardment" game in which correct answers score direct hits in a board game replaying the siege.
