The authors, experts in archaeology and state history, draw extensively on primary sources to forgo myths and portray people and events as they really were. The book is divided into short chapters with subheads. Spanish terms are italicized, then translated into English. Topics: Who were the artisans? What was a guild, an apprentice, a journeyman?
