STRATEGIC WRITING IN HISTORY

Students learn to write a paper following a pattern of research, identify evidence, make inferences, develop thesis statements, establish the relationship between the evidence and the thesis, and organize and craft a coherent text. The teacher’s guide contains sample lessons with explicit instructions on how to write like a historian, as well as handouts for students to practice the skills emphasized in the lessons. A PowerPoint^® presentation supplements and integrates with the guide. Six posters illustrate key points raised by the lessons.
