The 14 lessons cover topics such as the Gulf of Tonkin incident, cultural contrasts, grunts’ combat experiences, “hawks” versus “doves,” Vietnamese nationalists, and POWs and MIAs. The extensive teacher’s guide provides complete instructions, copious background readings, handout masters, assessments, and rubrics; student guides provide historical background information. For maximum flexibility, most lessons run for one to two class periods, and nearly all can stand alone as extension activities.
