Compatible with but not directly tied to AP curricula, this series of nine essays on major divisions of human history posits that the study of the past with a global view reveals patterns and raises questions much harder to distinguish at smaller scales.
Each essay analyzes an era (from prehistory to the present day) in terms of interactions between humans and ideas, the environment, and other humans, and provides study questions usable as short- and long-essay prompts. An introduction on the study of history—plus an epilogue on its ambiguity—complement primary source photographs, illustrations, maps, charts, and tables.
