WORLD WAR II IN EUROPE, 1939–1942

The main part of the map uses color shading to differentiate the Axis powers, Axis-controlled areas, the Allies, and neutral powers. Arrows show the expansion of Axis control, and symbols indicate Axis victories and Allied victories. A smaller map shows the Battle of Britain, with symbols denoting military targets or civilian targets. An inset at the bottom has a chart showing the division of military resources (aircraft, ships, tanks, troops) between the Allies and the Axis.
